Gilmore Girls s02 E17
In this episode, I noticed a hidden philosophy, or may be I am reading too much between the lines.
Taylor Doose, the local market store owner, surprised to see a new vegetable vendor shop right opposite to his store. Suddenly his business drops, people starts to love the new store. He tries all his means to stop the new business started by a long haired hippie guy of sort. He pleases in the town meeting and tries speaking with the guy directly but nothing helps.
He started to wallow about all this, constantly looking at the newly spawned store, all worried and fucked up. This is the only problem he thinks about in the entire episode.
By the end of the episode, the long haired guy informs Taylor that he is closing up the store since all the vegetables he have harvested is sold out. Taylor, all confused, asks the guy, “if it was temporary, why did you put me go through all that trouble?”
and the long hair guy replies, “actually, you put yourself through it taylor”. “You put yourself through it”
sometimes, when things go south, we tend to put all our energy into thinking how could this go wrong. We often wallow down all drained out thinking about the problem alone. But as life, these problems are temporary and it will be gone soon if we put our mind elsewhere. Most of our worries are we putting ourself through it unnecessarily.
